[Music] hi I’m Beth Clay the founder of Finance Her Well i’m here today to ask for an investment of 200,000 dirhams for 10% in my company i created Finance Well as a transformative platform to empower women across the GCC to understand how to manage their finances and build wealth finance Well will provide one-to-one and group coaching memberships online courses and corporate workshops over the coming years we will provide financial retreats have a podcast a YouTube channel and have paid speaking opportunities finance so well will provide that personalized support tailored to the unique needs of women i’m a very new business so the money that I’m asking for is to provide me with a targeted marketing campaigns to reach even more women and that virtual assistant support at this level so now sharks how would you like to support women understand more about financial independence congratulations Elizabeth on your journey over here
thank you
two questions why are the men left out and also tell us a little bit about yourself i wanted to niche down because I think that the women that I’ve spoken to have felt that left out in that conversation it may be that over the coming years we might change it to finance you well for instance but for right now I really want to niche down and support women a bit about myself um so I’m a mother of two i have u 15 years experience actually in communications so a little bit different from the financial side but what the reason why that’s really important I’ve worked for government communications and corporate in the financial PR space and communicating economic policy is that I can make financial jargon relatable and accessible for all and so that’s why I feel like I’m really well blended for the business
all right thank you
what makes this a business and not a not for-p profofit given the mission it has got a philanthropy element to that and I still want to be able to do that but women have told me that they’re prepared to pay for memberships which is one of the I think is going to be one of the easiest ways to do this and then we’ll be able to build up with more resources with more accountability and then courses people are prepared to pay for courses and coaching as well
what’s your revenue in the coming three years and how do you value the company 10 years from now at the moment I’ve looked at the total profit over three years that I’ve been able to make which is 1.9 million and this is based on revenues of uh 620 um in year 1 obviously I’m new so this would be with the investment that I’m asking you and then going up to 1.6 and 2.6 in year three obviously 4.8 that’s probably the best I can give you at this stage these are all projected figures what I’m trying to understand from your business model is that there’s an element of educational content and there’s an element of a community
uh I think the educational content is not gender specific do they anybody wants to learn about
financing or or investments whatever it is there’s content that that doesn’t differentiate the community part I sort of understand could you explain to me why are you trying to sort of uh reinvent the content i don’t feel like there is enough content available for women um in particular
but why for women but again we agreed that content is not gender specific we’re talking about we’re talking about content for people to understand how to invest how to manage their finances so there’s there’s a couple of things i think like you say some of those um personal needs for women perhaps be within that community but I don’t think there is accessible content out there gender specific like you mentioned and that’s what I want to build so Beth today you don’t have revenue
so I’ve just started taking on the first few clients
okay and you referred a few times to the women you’ve spoken to what is that sample size there’s probably about 50 women that I have personally spoken to oneonone who’ve spoken to that but I know if I look at the UBS report in total the report found that 62% uh of women want to know more and want to invest more it seems like you’re a good coach and it’s a nice business for you as a as a coach for you to do for yourself but I’m not seeing this to be an investable business per se because it’s highly reliant on just you and so for those reasons I’m out but I commend you in what you’re doing and I think it’s a very important thing
the first thing my advice is you you need to build the authority and the community especially cuz you’re coming from a different industry i feel like you’re putting the cart before the horse by coming here first you have to build the authority in the following and then and then come back and go ahead and raise investments and so while I love the mission that you’re on and it’s very important but right now it’s just too early for me so for those reasons I’m out
thank you
yeah Beth I think you have great energy and I think you you’re serving a good cause i think the community part and the coaching is is great but it’s quite personal and it’s really going to depend on how you you sort of do it and as Amira said could be something that might be good for you as an individual not necessarily an investable business for now uh I’ll have to pass
thank you
i’m of the view that something like this should be developed for both men and women and you can target women if you want to but the product should be generic uh for that reason I cannot support what you’re doing and I’m not
thank you
the cause which you’re doing is really really good not all women are fully financially independent and I think educating them in that domain is a very very good cause but like the other sharks I feel like it’s too early on the stage of the business so once you get some traction very happy to have a conversation at that point but right now I’m out i wish you good luck
thank you so much thank you
Beth uh you’ve heard all the sharks they’ve given you some very useful advice uh we all wish you the best but all the sharks have have declined to invest so all the best and hopefully we hear about your success in the near future
thank you so much
thank you for coming
thank you
thank you today I didn’t get a deal on Shark Tank but I’m going to continue to putting everything into the business as I have already and the fact that it’s grown so far um I’m really proud of how far I’ve come and I’ll continue to give it the best effort I can
you guys supported her idea but invest in her business i told her I told her it’s not a business to invest in
i think more importantly coming on the show with no audience no anything no even following that you’re going to monetize makes zero sense so doesn’t matter what her target
3.2 [Music]
14.24 hi I’m Beth Clay the founder of Finance
16.96 Her Well i’m here today to ask for an
20.64 investment of 200,000 dirhams for 10% in
24.16 my company i created Finance Well as a
27.519 transformative platform to empower women
30.24 across the GCC to understand how to
32.719 manage their finances and build wealth
35.84 finance Well will provide one-to-one and
38.48 group coaching memberships online
41.28 courses and corporate workshops over the
43.84 coming years we will provide financial
46.399 retreats have a podcast a YouTube
49.2 channel and have paid speaking
51.039 opportunities
53.36 finance so well will provide that
55.199 personalized support tailored to the
56.879 unique needs of women i’m a very new
59.76 business so the money that I’m asking
61.52 for is to provide me with a targeted
64.239 marketing campaigns to reach even more
66.479 women and that virtual assistant support
68.88 at this level so now sharks how would
72.08 you like to support women understand
73.84 more about financial independence
77.28 congratulations Elizabeth on your
78.96 journey over here
thank you
two
81.04 questions why are the men left out and
84.32 also tell us a little bit about yourself
86.4 i wanted to niche down because I think
88.4 that the women that I’ve spoken to have
90.4 felt that left out in that conversation
92.64 it may be that over the coming years we
94.24 might change it to finance you well for
96.0 instance but for right now I really want
97.92 to niche down and support women a bit
100.24 about myself um so I’m a mother of two i
103.68 have u 15 years experience actually in
106.479 communications so a little bit different
108.96 from the financial side but what the
111.6 reason why that’s really important I’ve
112.96 worked for government communications and
114.88 corporate in the financial PR space and
117.36 communicating economic policy is that I
119.92 can make financial jargon relatable and
123.36 accessible for all and so that’s why I
126.0 feel like I’m really well blended for
128.16 the business
all right thank you
what
130.8 makes this a business and not a not
132.4 for-p profofit given the mission it has
134.72 got a philanthropy element to that and I
136.8 still want to be able to do that but
138.48 women have told me that they’re prepared
140.239 to pay for memberships which is one of
143.12 the I think is going to be one of the
144.4 easiest ways to do this and then we’ll
146.4 be able to build up with more resources
148.56 with more accountability and then
150.4 courses people are prepared to pay for
152.48 courses and coaching as well
what’s your
155.28 revenue in the coming three years and
157.68 how do you value the company 10 years
160.879 from now
162.16 at the moment I’ve looked at the total
164.319 profit over three years that I’ve been
166.0 able to make which is 1.9 million and
169.2 this is based on revenues of uh 620 um
174.4 in year 1 obviously I’m new so this
176.239 would be with the investment that I’m
177.519 asking you and then going up to 1.6 and
180.16 2.6 in year three obviously 4.8 that’s
183.519 probably the best I can give you at this
184.959 stage these are all projected figures
187.36 what I’m trying to understand from your
189.12 business model is that there’s an
190.959 element of educational content and
193.04 there’s an element of a community
uh I
195.92 think the educational content is not
197.68 gender specific do they anybody wants to
200.0 learn about
financing or or investments
202.72 whatever it is there’s content that that
204.879 doesn’t differentiate the community part
207.04 I sort of understand could you explain
208.879 to me why are you trying to sort of uh
211.84 reinvent the content i don’t feel like
214.4 there is enough content available for
216.72 women um in particular
but why for women
219.44 but again we agreed that content is not
221.84 gender specific we’re talking about
223.36 we’re talking about content for people
224.879 to understand how to invest how to
226.48 manage their finances
228.4 so there’s there’s a couple of things i
229.68 think like you say some of those um
231.36 personal needs for women perhaps be
233.04 within that community but I don’t think
235.44 there is accessible content out there
237.68 gender specific like you mentioned and
239.599 that’s what I want to build
242.0 so Beth today you don’t have revenue
so
244.959 I’ve just started taking on the first
246.4 few clients
okay and you referred a few
249.2 times to the women you’ve spoken to what
250.879 is that sample size there’s probably
253.12 about 50 women that I have personally
255.519 spoken to oneonone who’ve spoken to that
257.519 but I know if I look at the UBS report
260.479 in total the report found that 62%
264.24 uh of women want to know more and want
266.08 to invest more it seems like you’re a
268.08 good coach and it’s a nice business for
270.0 you as a as a coach for you to do for
272.16 yourself but I’m not seeing this to be
274.0 an investable business per se because
276.0 it’s highly reliant on just you and so
278.72 for those reasons I’m out but I commend
281.04 you in what you’re doing and I think
282.16 it’s a very important thing
the first
284.32 thing my advice is you you need to build
286.0 the authority and the community
287.52 especially cuz you’re coming from a
288.96 different industry i feel like you’re
290.479 putting the cart before the horse by
292.16 coming here first you have to build the
293.68 authority in the following and then and
295.68 then come back and go ahead and raise
297.52 investments and so while I love the
298.96 mission that you’re on and it’s very
300.16 important but right now it’s just too
301.919 early for me so for those reasons I’m
303.44 out
thank you
yeah Beth I think you have
305.919 great energy and I think you you’re
307.44 serving a good cause i think the
309.44 community part and the coaching is is
311.6 great but it’s quite personal and it’s
314.639 really going to depend on how you you
316.08 sort of do it and as Amira said could be
318.72 something that might be good for you as
320.72 an individual not necessarily an
322.24 investable business for now uh I’ll have
324.8 to pass
thank you
i’m of the view that
327.44 something like this should be developed
329.199 for both men and women and you can
332.16 target women if you want to but the
333.6 product should be generic
336.32 uh for that reason I cannot support what
338.479 you’re doing and I’m not
thank you
the
341.039 cause which you’re doing is really
342.479 really good not all women are fully
344.88 financially independent and I think
347.039 educating them in that domain is a very
349.28 very good cause but like the other
350.8 sharks I feel like it’s too early on the
355.039 stage of the business so once you get
356.4 some traction very happy to have a
358.8 conversation at that point but right now
361.039 I’m out i wish you good luck
thank you
362.96 so much thank you
Beth uh you’ve heard
365.52 all the sharks they’ve given you some
366.96 very useful advice uh we all wish you
369.199 the best but all the sharks have have
370.88 declined to invest so all the best and
373.68 hopefully we hear about your success in
375.199 the near future
thank you so much
thank
376.4 you for coming
thank you
thank you
383.36 today I didn’t get a deal on Shark Tank
385.039 but I’m going to continue to putting
387.12 everything into the business as I have
389.199 already and the fact that it’s grown so
390.88 far um I’m really proud of how far I’ve
392.96 come and I’ll continue to give it the
394.24 best effort I can
you guys supported her
396.479 idea but invest in her business i told
399.199 her I told her it’s not a business to
401.28 invest in
i think more importantly
402.72 coming on the show with no audience no
404.72 anything no even following that you’re
406.24 going to monetize makes zero sense so
408.08 doesn’t matter what her target
